Memorable 36

On 14th June at around 11.50 pm there was a knock at the door. One of my nephews was standing there sweating profusely. He said that he was at a client's place nearby and since he got late there, he thought of coming to our place. Somehow not being convinced to buy his words, I went to the kitchen to prepare something for him to eat.

After about 10 mins again there was a knock at the door. I opened it and this time I found another two of my nephews who stays nearby standing at the door with tensed faces. Seeing them I was convinced that something was terribly wrong. I asked them to come inside.

As they entered there was an outburst of HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes from four of them- my daughter and three of my nephews. I was shocked as I totally forgot that it was 15th June, the day I came to this world 36 years ago. I could not understand how to react. It took a few moments to recollect myself, as I was prepared not for Birthday wishes but for some horrible news. I was very happy as well as confused. I went to the kitchen to turn off the gas stove.

Once I came back to the living room, to my surprise, a gorgeous chocolate cake from the best baker in town - The Cookie Jar was waiting for me. It was the tastiest of cakes I ever had since it was brought with so much love and affection. Later I came to know that the mastermind was my ten years old daughter.
A gift of love from my nephews and my daughter
Usually I prefer to spent the D day in a plain and simple manner but this year it started with a bang followed by txt wishes from one of my dear brothers Pragyan and a long distance call from my hubby which was long indeed :-). Early next morning I was awoke with a call from my niece with an urge to check my mail at a priority basis. I at once logged into my mail and it was like Wowwww! It was a wonderful collage from her with heart touching captions. This lovely gesture of her moistened my eyes and it was indeed one of the best birthday gifts I ever received.

A wonderful gift from my niece
But the day did not end here. I invited my nephews for dinner, also there were N numbers of messages in Face Book with birthday wishes from friends which needed to be replied back and also one of my cousin brother and a cousin sister got to know about it from Face Book and they got invited themselves and arrived with gifts.

A lovely gift from my sister-in-law

A lovely traditional phanek enaphi from my cousin sister
It was pretty embarrassing to see them come and wish me with gifts. Also I was not prepared to throw a party. Still managed to cook dinner for all with capable helpers like my sister and my sister-in-law and surprisingly the dinner turned out to be a tasty one. It got over at around 12.30 pm.

Thus this birthday turned out to be the most memorable one with lots of surprises and best wishes from all near and dear ones. My heartiest thanks to all for making my day so wonderful.

Vacation Work

A month long vacation with an additional extension of one week because of the scorching heat is over today. Hereby all the late nights and late mornings come to an end. Though late night is yet an option but late mornings are a big no no. Why? because every morning my daughter has to leave home for school at sharp 7 O' clock, five days a week.

A vacation work, a project on 'any state of India you visit during your summer holidays' is finally wrapped up today. Since we visited Bangalore, Mysore and Ooty during the vacation, Akanksha choose the state of Karnataka for her project.

The ultimate day started as below..

Followed by more chaotic deeds as time rushed out rapidly..

And the end result..aarrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

The red border on the photograph is not at all complementing the overall look. But when one do not do the right thing at the right moment he/she has to end up with what ever resource he/she has. Our situation was somewhat similar to that. When finally at 11.30 p.m. we tried to stick the photograph with gum on the front cover, it did not work. We had to put cello tape to stick but since plain cello tape wont look good we thought of putting colored tape but this is the only color left at home and no more grace time left, so we have to be content with it.

Now, waiting eagerly with fingers crossed for the teacher's feedback. Hope the teacher will be in a cheerful mood tomorrow.

Childhood Memory

Yesterday evening having nothing much to do - not in a mood to go outside because of the scorching heat, just finished reading a book and not having another one at that moment, also read the whole newspaper right from weather forecast to classifieds, so, thought of logging in to Face Book after a couple of days.

But once I logged in I was giggling. I was not able to control my excitement. Looking at my face my daughter got to know there was something that brought that unusual expression in my face. Being curious she started inquiring why was I giggling so much. Since I did not respond to her, she peeped into the PC and in a very astonished voice she was shooting one question after another, "What is this? Who are they? Are these your school photographs? Are they your friends?".

My classmate Sazid Asraf now a friend in FB uploaded two group photographs of class VI(1997) and class VII(1998).

I was so excited that I gave a tight hug and a kiss to my daughter and said, "Yes, look! they are my class mates", and I introduced her to all my friends one by one but few I could not name. Can't believe I forgot the names of my classmates. It pained. But after brushing my memory, a few I could recollect which made the pain lessen a bit.

I was smiling and sometimes just laughing loud seeing the innocent faces and remembering all those crazy things we used to do. In the same time I was narrating a few crazy incidents of my friends to my daughter. She was listening to me and getting excited. She was so excited that she again and again hugged me and kissed me. We both had a really great time. She started comparing the present look of my friends who are in Face Book and their look of yonder years and laugh.

At this hour I am not able to sleep remembering all those wonderful days. So just thought of getting up from the bed and jotting down my feelings. Am so overwhelmed and thankful to my dear friend Sazid from the core of my heart to help bring back a few glimpse of those wonderful days. Also it makes me wonder how unpredictable our desires are - sometimes we spent a fortune to be a little happy but still crave to get it and sometimes small small things give us loads of happiness.

Really, childhood memories are the incomparable treasures of ones lifetime.

Time Flies

Its been too long since I haven't been posting. But, recently while I was out of town for a couple of months, my daughter started her YO...
